The Origin Barbecue brand hitting it's first year milestone is a big deal! So to celebrate, we had to do something rad!
And that, we did! We went all-out on a collab with one of the industry's biggest stars - the ever-charismatic 'King of Catertainment' Christian Stevenson, aka DJ BBQ!
Our event DJBBQ vs ORIGINBBQ brought all the awesome-tacular energy, a yard of sunshine, smiles, music, community vibes, friends, family and top of all... the most epic slow 'n' low barbecue in the New Forest!

MENU CONCEPT: DJBBQ vs ORIGINBBQ
...We conjured up a fusion of smoked and flame-cooked classics from both sides of the pond, and beyond.
Pit Boss Chris and the Origin Team smashed out some Origin house classics, including hand made Texas-style Hotlinks, Peach Tea Belly Bites, Baby Back Ribs and Chicken Shawarma with Hummous; the latter being a nod to the boss man's origins, (Lebanese).
Our Maryland-born buddy DJBBQ threw into the mix some famous faves from the USA; including some belly-warming family recipes he grew up with. We had Della's Tomato Pie, Alabama Chicken, Black Bean Tostadas and that legendary DJBBQ Beef Rib.
Will you take a look at that meat!

THE ENTERTAINMENT
Such a fun collection of music across the weekend, kicking of with an uplifting showcase of country-disco beats on the Saturday, courtesy of our main man, Big T and his Honky Tonk Disco.
Big T kept the atmosphere bumping all through the afternoon for our jolly barbecue lovers... Such fitting entertainment and the best atmosphere in the yard!

On Sunday we had the pleasure of witnessing rising country music star Kerryl taking over the stage in the barn. Kerryl... What a voice! Pitch perfect and a soulful live acoustic country set, very much enjoyed by all.
THE PEOPLE
We were delighted by the sheer number of barbecue lovers who rocked up to show us they were very much up for a DJBBQ vs ORIGINBBQ fusion of greatness!
Extremely busy we were, and so much appreciation for that amazing smell wafting around the yard. We gave thanks to the wood-fired smokers doing the Lord's work. and all that fine local charcoal fired-up, too!
Our cheffing team - Chris, DJBBQ, Luke and Rich - worked tirelessly prepping sides and smoking all the meats deliver a fire-food extravaganza that blew everyone's minds!

Despite the extremes of heat, they all rocked it! An extraordinary volume of mouth-watering platters flew out and all the poor sleep, sweat and tears were so worth it.
The food was in fact, SO ridiculously sublime!
...And the hosting was... well, as you'd expect from an event where DJBBQ is on form, doing what DJBBQ does best.... Everything about it was fun! Hyped! Larger than life!

One of the best things about the barbecue and wider hospitality community is the strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support.
Some absolute legends came down including Charles from @socalbbqshop, Steve May @steamtrainbbq, Shaun Davis @smoke_and_brew_bbq and Ricky from @sydsslaps in Southbourne - who have been with us, cheering us on, since the start of our journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who celebrated this magnificent occasion with us.
We got through our first year, dealt with the inevitable teething problems you get with a new hospitality business, and the business is now starting to gain strong momentum.

Now in our second summer season, Origin Barbecue is busier week on week and we are going full pelt, levelling up... putting out fire food showcases we never would have imagined possible a few years ago!

Special thanks to DJBBQ, Big T, Kerryl, DJ Goldchain Paul, Neil and the team at Drop The Anchor Brewery, along with Jamie and Jo from Backroom Productions for helping Team Origin make DJBBQ vs ORIGINBBQ such a blinding success! This has really raised the bar for Origin Barbecue and we are very excited for things yet to come...
