Inspired by our travels in Norway, Origin Barbecue showcase our interpretation of the ancient Viking festival, Álfablót!
What is Álfablót?
Álfablót is the name of the pre-Christian Norse Pagan festival, which was an annual tradition through the Viking era, held in late autumn.
The purpose of the festival was to honour the "elves" (álfar), which were believed to be ancestral spirits of the people.
It was a household-level celebration, where time was devoted to private sacrifice of animals, crops and other offerings to the elves.
